A two-day Workshop on ‘Aggrandizement of the UG and PG
Curriculum’ was organized in Govt. College of Teacher Education,
Thiruvananthapuram on 10 and 11 February 2016.
The
objectives of the workshop included the following:
*To
orient teacher educators to the revised curriculum
*To
discuss the practical difficulties encountered while transacting the curriculum
in the first semester
*To
familiarize teacher educators with the course content, learning conditions,
assessment and evaluation
*To
identify topics for Practicum
*To
identify strategies for transacting the curriculum
*
To develop Multiple Choice Type
questions
*To
develop model Question paper for the prescribed Papers
*To
identify suitable print and online resources for the prescribed subjects
*To
prepare instructional materials and guidelines for the effective transaction
of curriculum in Teacher Education at UG and PG graduate level.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr.Rosamma Philip, Member Syndicate,
University of Kerala.
Dr.GR.Santhosh Kumar, Chairman, BOS,UG and Dr.Teresa Susan, Chairman, BOS,PG offered felicitations.
Almost all the speakers present,
expressed their concern about
the need for proper transaction of the revised curriculum. A few other
things referred to include:
*Lack
of uniformity in the Practicum
*Lack
of clarity in capacity building
*Need
for setting up college clusters for resource sharing and collaboration
*Developing
linguistic competence in trainees
*Absence
of a proper link between theory and
practice
*How
to ensure there is a steady progress during the
Internship period
*The
need for personal grooming to make the teacher a HR manager
