[Kerala University English Teacher
Educator’s Forum - KUETEF]
Discussions are under way for finalizing the new
BEd. Curriculum. Many minds are
at work. Even before the discussions commenced on the afternoon
of 13 February 2013, the following based on
the opinions drawn from teacher
educators on 02 February 2013 had
already been listed:
* Designing Curriculum to meet the challenges of 21st
century
* Visioning teacher as a Techno-pedagogue for facilitating the
demands of knowledge generating society.
* Development of teacher competencies
* Education as a social experience
* Emphasizing the four
pillars of Education
* Complementarity of theory and practice
* Equipping the teachers
for meeting the changing demands of the school system
* Inputs for the development of professionalism in teaching
In the ensuing discussion the
following too were added to the
list:
* Adapting a Value,
Skill, Knowledge (VSK) paradigm
* A
competency-based curriculum
* An evidence-based
performance evaluation of teacher
education
* Problem-based and
culture-centric curriculum
* Process-oriented,
Action Research-based training
* Inclusion of lateral
skills
* Reflective practices
in tune with cognitive practices
But
then ‘vision’ as such, is
an ideal which we intend to realize! So it is necessary to suggest
ways of achieving the ‘vision’ through a series of objectives.
Do feel free to comment on the ensuing discussion…
