The following is the
extract from the proposal
I had prepared as directed by
the Chairman of the Board of Studies in
Education (UG), University of Kerala. The proposed framework was submitted
for discussion and approval by the esteemed participants of
the Conceptualization Workshop organized in
connection with the
Reification/Redesigning of the B. Ed Curriculum at the Senate Chamber,
University of Kerala on 22 and 23 February 2013.
Introduction
The Technology Lab promotes the enhancement of knowledge
and the use of technology resources. Trainees
learn how to integrate the tools of technology in all phases of their
teaching. Used properly it can serve as a test bed for new technology applications in education.
Objectives of Technology Lab sessions.
The sessions are planned for the trainee to:
1. Familiarize with different technological aids.
2. Develop the ability to use aids for teaching.
3. Sensitize aspects related
to the appropriate and effective use of various aids.
Type of Lab Proposed:
* Equipped with visual aids that do not require power supply and
with audio, visual and audio-visual aids that require power supply.
Lab requirements:
* Well ventilated room
with facility for darkening of room.
* Provision for uninterrupted
power supply.
* Portable screen and
walls suitable for screening.
* Multiple Plug Points with extension cords for connecting
equipments.
* Large tables for students to work in groups and operate/ prepare aids.
* Demonstration table for instructor.
Technological Aids required:
*Black board, White Board, Charts, Flannel Board, Flip Charts,
Radio, Public Address System, Audio Player, Video CD Player, DVD Player, i-Pod,
Multimedia PC, i-Pad, Digital Camera, Handicam, LCD Projectors with screen, LCD
TV and Smart Board.
Teaching-Learning Resources required :
* A collection of audio,
visual, audio-visual and Multimedia materials.
Total
Lab sessions :
* 10 hours per trainee
Ø 03 hours for instruction of
different ways of using
technological aids.
Ø 02 hours for preparation of cost effective and inexpensive aids
in a Workshop mode.
Ø 05 hours for preparation and presentation of technological teaching –learning aids related to ones Optional Subject by each
trainee.

after regular college hours for
completing Group Tasks ]
Topics for Lab sessions :
* Old aids and modern
technological aids.
* Illustration of use of
aids from the library to show how to use and how not to use
aids to ensure effective learning.
Proposed Strategy :
1. Demonstration by
instructor of working and use of
specific
technological aids.
2. Sensitizing students
on how to use and how not to use different aids.
3. Providing tips
for using aids for presentation of topics.
4. Hands-on experience
for each trainee for operating
the technological aid .
5. On completion of demonstration of all available aids in the Lab, each
trainee is
assigned the task of
preparing a teaching-learning
material
which is to
be presented before peers.
6. Optional-wise Group work for production of a Documentary Film
/ Video
for teaching
a content at the secondary level.
Assessment :
* Marks are to be awarded for
knowledge of use of various
aids and for
the preparation and presentation of the
teaching-learning material.
