101. Report of Workshop

[Kerala University English Teacher Educator’s Forum - KUETEF]

As part of the Orientation  to the New BEd. Curriculum (2013-14) for English Teacher Educators of the University of Kerala, a Workshop was organized in the Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram  under the auspices of  KUETEF on Saturday, 14^th December 2013.

The Workshop was  a continuation of  the work already done  at KUCTE, Kumarapuram on 28 and 29 November 2013. It commenced  at 10 AM with a Silent Prayer. During the Workshop the following  sessions  were engaged by
Dr.C. Praveen:

* Using  ICT for ELT

* Video observation of  a class engaged using technological aids. {The participants of the Workshop were distributed printed copies of the   Observation Schedules already posted in this Blog - Post #94, 95 and 96}.

* Observation of Video  recorded Micro Teaching session focusing on the components of the Skill of using Teaching Aids.

* Observation of video clips  to identify  the content for the audio and  video part of a  Video script.

* Feature Film-based video clips to be used for orientation of trainees to teaching.

* Teaching a content using  the Digital Language Lab  and writing of an ICT-based Lesson Plan.

Drafts of the following  prepared by group members of the Workshop held at Kumarapuram were ready for refining.

-Video Script (for teaching a content related to ELT)

-Competent of the Skill of Reading and  Skill of Reciting Poems.

So,  after a brief tea-break, the participants worked in groups  to  prepare  the following:

*Two-column Lesson Plan based on a content from the Std. XI Course Book of SCERT.

*Preparation of  Observation  Schedule for the Skill of using ICT resources.

*Preparation of  an ICT-based Lesson  Plan. {Xerox copies of  a specimen ICT-based lesson were made available for the participants}.

All the groups  required more time to complete their work. So, they were instructed to  email  the  drafts to the  Secretary, KUETEF for  refining  and uploading  in this  Blog.

The session concluded at 1.00 PM. Ms. Anila Chacko, Treasurer, KUETEF, thanked both the  participants  and  the Secretary of KUETEF, Dr.C.Praveen for  taking the initiative for organizing the Workshop.

A few  participants who were attending  the Workshop organized by  KUETEF for the first time,   joined  the KUETEF  fraternity. Some KUETEF  members had  prior to the  Workshop,  expressed  their inconvenience in attending  this  Workshop owing to previous  engagement.
