94. Observation Schedule for Video Lesson

The following Observation Schedule which I had prepared was distributed for use during the 3-day Orientation Programme for English Teacher Educators of Kerala University  Colleges of Teacher Education (KUCTE).

A trial viewing session using the Observation Schedule was conducted for the twenty English Teacher Educators present on 28 November 2013 and they found  it usable.

·        * How did the teacher introduce the lesson?

·        * How did the teacher motivate the learner?

·        * Identify the method used by the teacher.

·         *Comment on the presentation. Was it systematic and sequential?

·        * What kind of activity was given for the pupils?

·        * Comment  on the teacher’s role during the activity.

·         *Comment on the use of questions to elicit pupil responses.

·         *Comment on the review stage.

·         *Comment on the way closure was achieved.

·         *Comment on the teaching skills.

·         *Comment on the use of teaching aids.

·         *Comment on the teacher’s voice and tone.

·         *Comment on the teacher’s communication skill.

·         *Comment on the teacher’s classroom management.

·         *Comment on other aspects of the lesson if any.

Note: The write-up should be in short paragraphs and should try to focus on the  areas specified above.
